Ben is originally from Indiana and since his early high school days his goal was to pursue a career as a video editor. He attended Ball State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Video Production with a minor in Film. After graduating in 2011, he soon moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming an editor. Ben was first hired as a Production Assistant at a post production house called Chainsaw, and after a year moved up to the position of Assistant Editor. Here he had the chance to learn the technical side of the business, working primarily on reality television and award shows. Almost every imaginable format, frame rate, and workflow was utilized to create content for programs like American Idol and the Academy Awards ceremony. Working for several years at Chainsaw resulted in a promotion to Lead Assistant Editor, which in turn led to a job opportunity at Mocean, a post production house specializing in film and television advertising.
Working as an Assistant Editor at Mocean offered a wide range of new challenges and learning experiences. Ben perfected technical skills on Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve. After putting in the extra time to learn more of the creative side of the business, Ben was promoted first to Night Lead Associate Editor and then Day Lead Associate Editor. In this position, he was in charge of managing a crew of around eight other assistant editors, and working creatively as well.
After less than a year as an Associate Editor, Ben was promoted in 2017 to full time Editor at Mocean. From there, every conceivable project and task was thrown his way. From full length trailers, to 30 second TV spots, to bumpers, to special shoots, to sizzles, Ben has had a hand in helping on most projects that came through Mocean's doors. He was fortunate enough to work on projects from studios like Marvel, Pixar, Warner Brothers, Paramount, and many more. As an editor, Ben has been working in the position he has been pursuing since high school, a position that is creative, fun, challenging and rewarding.
Ben has been a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild since 2015.
